'K' is for Key

To start the week off with 'k' I decided to unlock the week; if you will with the word key. I dug to the bottom of my purse and found my keys and decided to let Colton look and show him what they are used for and to do rubbings of them. We even did a couple key chains too just because. I wrote the word key and we practiced writing 'k'. I had Colton hold the crayon and I helped him. He tried on his own but of course it is still scribbles and that is ok. Colton enjoyed this one a lot seeing all the different keys, using different colors and so on.
Have fun crafting and learning with your Rays of Sunshine!

25 Days of Christmas...Day 12!

REINDEER! Well, my parents oven STILL is not fixed and having a hard time trying to find a used one for a decent price. They can not afford to spend more than 100...let alone cannot really even afford even that. So I am hoping for a miracle so we can have it for dinner,Christmas dinner, and Christmas baking. The burners work, but the oven does not. Well, any who I had more planned for this week that involved the oven, but until a miracle brews these posts will be filled with creative crafts. The foot and hand reindeer are all over online, but I found the idea HERE. That is my favorite blog for really great ideas and found it last year. Here is Colton's reindeer.
Since that reindeer above went by so fast I decided to do another reindeer just different materials for this one. I bought craft sticks a while back ago and haven't found many uses for them. One day when Colton was napping I came up with this one. But come to find out someone else thought of it. O well, at least I didn't google this idea like I do so many times.
This took much skill and concentration on his part. I had him color the sticks brown and it helped keep a steady hand and stay 'in lines', I suggest having your kids do this, it helps coordination as well.
I think he's so cute! I am going to add some ribbon to the back of him and hang him up!

I love our reindeer and hope you do these with your children! Tonight also on ABC Family they played Rudolph the Reindeer and the Misfit Toys. That was NOT planned, but made me happy! These are quick and easy (cheap to do as well). Have fun and hope you enjoyed this day of Christmas!

25 Days of Christmas...Day 11!

GIVEAWAYS! I came across this blog this morning and thought what a great way to do day 11! Everyone loves free stuff and these giveaways are free to do and easy too! I signed up for a handful of different ones, it was so hard to just pick one!
1. This is the Leapfrog Scribble and Write! The age says 3+, but I can put it away until later or still let Colton play and help with his letters and other games on it. HERE this giveaway ends 12/6 so you all still have time!
2. The next giveaway I signed up for was a Hallmark recordable book! HERE These run about 29.99 and are awesome! Well, I don't have one but would love to own one for Colton. My parents and husbands parents don't live near where my husband and I live. This year I am staying with my parents because husband is deployed. But anyways, this is a great giveaway! This also ends 12/6.
3. The next one is the Elmo Wii game. HERE It is an animal adventure full of zoo animals! Colton loves Elmo and animals and we have a Wii, so this would be perfect for him! Anything to help him distinguish and learn animals or anything for that matter makes me happy! I don't see when this ends.
4. I also signed up for Thomas dvd. This is one about a lion with other episodes as well. Colton is Thomas crazed and carries his trains around wherever he goes. This one ends 12/13.HERE

There are way more giveaways and even something that might appealing to us women as well! Go and take a look, there are some really great things on there! Enjoy day 11!

I should mention!

I know I have mentioned this before but there are new followers and decided to tell you all again. Once 25 followers are reached I will be giving a $25 gift card to one of you. The gift card will be universal, meaning you can use it any where! I love these ones more because there is no set place you have to use it. Plus, not everyone of you have opportunity to go to Walmart or Target as much and also for the reason if I choose one store over the other I would rather not get into trouble. This gift card I am paying for out of my own pocket. Nobody came to me and offered this. I am not reviewing products, however if you know someone that wants me to review something I would be more than willing, especially if it is a certain company that is famous for the wooden puzzles and other goodies. Why I am doing this is to gain more followers, keep you involved here, and keep you all coming back. Now, I won't be doing this all the time, but when big numbers are reached of course I will. After 25 followers the next one will most likely be 100 with a bit more money but NOT 100 dollars, sorry folks I can't give that much. Maybe by then someone will let me review something or I will find out how.
So, today is Friday and am really excited for the weekend. I am not sure if I will post anything today or not about Christmas. Either way hope you tell your friends and others you know. Hope you all have a great day enjoying your rays of sunshine!

25 Days of Christmas...Day 10!

WOW! 15 more days to go!! Today is the second day of December and also the second day it has snowed. So today's craft is Snowmen! They are easy and you can do many. This won't be the only day you will see them, I have three more I want to show you all but I need a few more odds and ends. Yesterday I was at Riteaid because of some sales that were happening and needed a few things. They had boxes filled with $1 items and there was a box dedicated to foam shapes and crafts! I was so excited and grabbed a few, one was a set to make snowmen. The activity included everything with it as well and numerous too so you can make a ton of them!
this is all that was included!
Colton was only able to make 4 because that is all he could handle at one sitting lol
The other snowman we did was all out of construction paper, I cut everything and Colton did the gluing. I put the glue where it needed to be. However, I helped with the smile. Of course you will see too that it is very colorful. I also sang "Frosty the snowman" so as I sung I showed Colton all the little things for the snowman. He loves the song and so of course I sang it many times more and Colton would dance and 'sing' too!
I think he has a lot of spunk
Have fun with your little snow boys and girls!

'J' is for jaguar!

Well it sure has been another very fast week and busy too! With all the Christmas crafts we have been doing I almost forgot about the letter J. I have found this idea HERE. Ours doesn't look like it because I didn't look back on it for a reference. But I still think it is cute none the less. Since I still have not bought foam we are using construction paper.
I drew the little circles and Colton was making dots he calls circles

25 Days of Christmas...Day 9!

I have gone through my list of ideas for this month and decided with all the crafts we needed another yummy treat! This is quick and easy and maybe most of you have done it. I, have to admit the only time I have ever made these was when I babysat in High school! They are the cornflake wreaths with the cinnamon candies. Ok, for those that don't know you will know now and am sure you will want to make them. Especially if you love rice krispie treats, this is defintely something a tad different but just as yummy and maybe a bit more!
You will need: butter OR margarine, mini marshmallows OR the giant ones, corn flakes OR frosted flakes, cinnamon candies, a decent size pot, and a plastic or wooden or rubber spatula, and green food coloring.
1/3c margarine OR butter, 4c mini marshmallows OR 1bag of the giant marshmallows, 6c corn flakes OR frosted flakes, 1tsp green food coloring
1. melt butter over medium heat
2. add marshmallows and stir continuously until they r dissolved
3. remove from heat and add food coloring...until u like the color...
4.add corn flakes
5.spoon clumps onto wax paper or tin foil
6. put a bit of butter on your fingers or use cooking spray on them and form the clumps into a wreath
7. add little cinnamon candies
8.ENJOY!
So forgive me I didn't take many pictures because Colton was helping and I was busy stirring, watching, and so on. But they turned out great and so yummy! We each ate one while watching the Grinch specials on ABCFamily channel!
His 'cheese' and so proud of the finished product!
Don't they look so cute? I must say, a great addition to a cookie plate!
shoving his face and getting it stuck to his pj sleeve haha! BOYS!
Hope you enjoyed another day of Christmas with us! Thank you for taking a peek and dropping by to see my Ray of Sunshine!
